A training course in Sana’a for workers in the transport sector on drug control

in Sana’a, the second training course in the field of drug control was held for workers in transport companies, car rental offices and transport offices.

100 participants participated in the course organized by the General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs and the Narcotics Control Department at the Ministry of Interior under the slogan “Safe land transport contributes to achieving community security.”

In the opening, Minister of Transport Abdel Wahab Al-Durra stressed the importance of companies and means of transportation as an important and necessary service for the citizen, pointing out that this service may at the same time be a loophole through which smugglers exploit the congestion in shipping places to smuggle dangerous materials to society.

He pointed out that drugs are a permanent enemy that is not limited to days and months and targets the most important segment of society, namely the youth, unlike aggression.

Minister Al-Durra stressed the need for coordination between the security authorities so that transportation does not turn into a means of smuggling and transporting these dangerous materials to society.

For his part, the head of the General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs, Walid Al-Waadi, explained that drugs are one of the biggest challenges facing society, as their harm is not limited to the individual only.

He stressed that the seriousness of this scourge reaches the point of its use as a hidden weapon in wars between countries, targeting in particular the youth category in order to transform them from an effective and productive national force working to build and protect the homeland into a destructive force that paralyzes the movement of society and squanders its wealth.

Al-Wadi’i indicated that the aggression is also adopting the drug war through its continuous attempts to flood Yemen with all kinds of drugs to transform young people from resisters and defenders of their religion and their homeland into human monstrosities looking for their pleasures and satisfy their addiction.

For his part, the Deputy Director General of Anti-Narcotics, Brigadier Fatek Al-Shamsi, praised the role of the Land Transport Authority in the fight against drugs, stressing that everyone is facing a challenge and a great battle that is no less important than the battles taking place on the battlefronts.

He pointed out that the fight against drugs is a societal responsibility before it is a security responsibility, and everyone should bear it, fight it and confront it
