Acting Prime Minister Inspects Several Service Projects in the Capital Governorate

 

Acting Prime Minister, Muhammad Muftah, inspected today the progress of several development and service projects underway in the Capital Governorate, with a total cost of 900 million riyals.

The Acting Prime Minister, accompanied by the Mayor of the Capital, Dr. Hammoud Abbad, and the First Deputy Mayor, Khalid Al-Madani, inspected the progress of the rehabilitation, restoration, and maintenance project for Khawlan Street in the Al-Sabeen District. This project, costing 400 million riyals and funded by the local authority, includes, in addition to rehabilitation, the construction of a 1,200-square-meter concrete overpass.

They all listened to an explanation from the Deputy Mayor for Public Works and Projects, Engineer Abdulkarim Al-Houthi, about the project, which includes the construction of concrete overpasses, asphalt layers, and the restoration and maintenance of deteriorated sections of Khawlan Street, from Al-Huthaili Roundabout to Al-Khafji Roundabout and the entrance to Shamila Street. The Acting Prime Minister, the Mayor of Sana’a, the First Deputy Governor, and the Deputy Minister of Public Works inspected the second phase of the maintenance, rehabilitation, and expansion project for the Dhahban entrance in Bani Al-Harith District. The project, costing 70 million riyals and funded locally, is being implemented by the General Authority for Roads and Bridges.

They received a briefing from the Director of the Authority’s branch, Engineer Abdullah Al-Ru’aini, on the implementation of the second phase. This phase includes widening and reconstructing dilapidated and damaged sections covering an area of 4,000 square meters, in addition to asphalt repairs covering 500 square meters and the installation of concrete curbs. He explained that the project is 90 percent complete.

Furthermore, Al-Allamah Muftah, Abbad, and Al-Madani reviewed the progress of the project to complete the rainwater drainage channel and level several streets in Bani Al-Harith District. This project, costing 406 million riyals, is a community initiative.

The initiative, implemented by the Happy Yemen Foundation for Community Initiatives with funding of 100 million riyals from the local authority and a contribution of 306 million riyals from the company, includes the completion of the rainwater drainage channel on Criminal Investigation Street and the asphalt repair of 1,800 meters of the channel’s path.

In a press statement following the visit, the Acting Prime Minister noted the ongoing work to rehabilitate and repair Khawlan Street, as well as the completion of the main sewage line.

He emphasized the importance of completing the connection at the neighborhood level to the main line, urging neighborhood leaders and sheikhs to coordinate with residents, especially those who are financially able, and to secure community contributions to facilitate the connection of the entire area to the main sewage line.

Allama Muftah highlighted the project’s significant environmental, health, and service-related importance for the residents of this area in particular and the capital city in general.

He commended the ongoing work to repair Khawlan Street, which is being carried out concurrently with a number of other service projects implemented by the capital city in other districts, projects of urgent importance to citizens and infrastructure.

The Acting Prime Minister emphasized the importance of utilizing the winter season to implement projects and intensify work teams to ensure their timely completion before the rainy season, which impacts work and progress, whether in restoration, paving, or other construction projects. He commended the role of community initiatives and their importance in advancing various development sectors.

In closing, he praised the efforts of everyone in the Capital Secretariat, expressing his hope for the implementation of more vital projects across all districts of the Secretariat.

For his part, the Mayor of Sana’a affirmed the developmental and environmental importance of the service projects visited today for the capital city and its residents.

He noted that the Capital Secretariat prioritizes urgent and essential projects in its activities, explaining that most of the projects implemented in the past and those currently underway are locally funded by the Secretariat.

The Mayor expressed his appreciation to all administrative leaders and employees of the Secretariat for their field efforts and dedication to implementing projects and ensuring the stability of service activities.
