Speaker of Parliament Yahya Ali al-Ra’i, Acting Prime Minister Muhammad Muftah, and Mayor of Sana’a Dr. Hammoud Abbad inspected the progress of the Khawlan Street rehabilitation and restoration project in the Al-Sabeen district today. The project is being funded locally.
During the visit, they and Member of Parliament Muhammad al-Bakri reviewed the asphalt and concrete work being carried out on the deteriorated sections of the street. The project is currently 40 percent complete, at a cost of 400 million riyals.
Al-Ra’i, Muftah, and Abbad also inspected the progress of the sewer line project for the designated sections of Khawlan Street (Phase Two), which aims to improve the environmental situation in the area. They listened to a briefing from the Undersecretary of the Secretariat for Public Works and Projects, Engineer Abdulkarim Al-Houthi, and the Project Manager, Engineer Bilal Al-Imad, about the asphalt work completed on an area of four thousand square meters as a first phase, as well as the ongoing work on three concrete bridges. They explained that work is progressing rapidly to complete the sewage pipeline project.
During the visit, the Speaker of Parliament expressed his gratitude to those in charge of this project, especially the leadership of the Capital Secretariat, stressing the need to exert more effort and continue implementing such service projects.
For his part, Allama Muftah commended the completed and ongoing projects in various areas of the Capital Secretariat in a number of vital sectors, particularly infrastructure. He emphasized that the rehabilitation of Khawlan Street, along with the extension of the sewage pipeline and the construction of surface bridges, is a positive step given the difficult circumstances the country is facing.
He urged the leadership of the Capital Secretariat and the governorates to take advantage of the winter season to implement projects, especially road paving, the rehabilitation of damaged streets, sewage systems, surface bridges, and stone paving.
