Al-Samai and Al-Masawi review the progress of work at Taiz Airport

 

Member of the Supreme Political Council Sultan Al-Samai and Acting Governor of Taiz Ahmed Amin Al-Masawi inspected today the ongoing work to remove waste and dust from the Taiz Airport runway and preparations for its opening and resumption of work.

During the visit, Al-Samai confirmed that the visit to Taiz Airport comes to review the ongoing work to rehabilitate the airport and establish a new runway east and west of the airport in addition to rehabilitating the previous runway and building the reception and departure hall instead of what was struck by the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression coalition on Yemen.

He expressed his wishes to the workers at Taiz Airport to quickly complete the work.. stressing that Taiz Airport serves the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Lahj, Al-Dhale and other governorates.
In turn, the acting governor Al-Masawi indicated that rehabilitation work is underway at Taiz Airport with the efforts of loyalists and national cadres of engineers in the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority, in implementation of the directives of the leader of the revolution, Mr. Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and the Supreme Political Council.

He indicated that work is underway to rehabilitate the opening of Taiz International Airport to be ready to receive domestic and international flights, alleviating the suffering of citizens from the siege and aggression that has been waged on Yemen for ten years.

He said, “You see a number of service facilities affiliated with Taiz Airport that were targeted by the aggression raids, and Yemen will recover and be victorious, and the civilian facilities that were damaged and bombed will be reconstructed,” stressing the need to integrate efforts and work in the spirit of one team to complete Taiz International Airport, reopen it, and resume domestic and international flights.

While the Director General of Taiz Airport, Nabil Ahmed Shamsan, and the Assistant Director General of the Airport for Technical Affairs, Engineer Bashir Al-Hakimi, indicated the interest of the Supreme Political Council and the leadership of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works and the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology in restoring the readiness of Taiz International Airport in stages.
He praised the support and direct supervision of the workflow by the acting governor and the role of the executive offices concerned with providing the airport’s general management with machinery and equipment that facilitated the completion of the preliminary work for the northern southern runway.

Shamsan explained that all studies and designs for the planned eastern-western runway have been completed, and the loan to finance its implementation by the Arab Fund for Development is still in place and will begin implementation upon receipt of funding credits.

Al-Samai and Al-Masawi listened to a brief explanation from those concerned about the study of the airport’s initial operational requirements in terms of building a transfer building, two arrival and departure halls, and all operational buildings for the airport, as well as the technical, navigational and security equipment necessary for operation.

He was briefed on the preliminary work that has been completed on the runway, including cleaning dust and loose materials from the paving layer of the runway and surveying work on both sides of the runway to drain rainwater.
