Al-Sayani announces resumption of work at Sana’a Airport

Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works and Chairman of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority Yahya Al-Sayani announced the resumption of work at Sana’a International Airport and the operation of civilian flights to Jordan, and UN flights and those of humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen after it was directly targeted by the Israeli aggression.
Al-Sayani explained in a press conference held today at Sana’a Airport in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority Aref Al-Ashram, and the Undersecretary of the Airports Sector at the Authority Yahya Al-Kahlani that this morning a civilian flight of Yemeni Airlines was operated on its scheduled date, heading to Queen Alia Airport in Jordan, in accordance with the conditions and requirements in force at international airports.
He stated that the Israeli aggression aircraft targeted Sana’a International Airport yesterday during the landing of a Yemenia Airlines plane coming from Jordan and coinciding with the preparation of a UN flight from Sana’a Airport carrying the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus.
The Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works confirmed that the brutal Israeli targeting of Sana’a Airport was direct and multiple to cause panic among citizens in general and those present at the airport and those arriving in particular.. indicating that the Israeli aggression directly targeted the control tower and the departure hall in addition to the navigational equipment at the airport.
He explained that the incident was dealt with according to a previously prepared emergency plan, where citizens and passengers were evacuated and the luggage of arriving passengers and the luggage of UN passengers were arranged within twelve hours, including the technical and professional preparation of the airport.
Al-Sayani stated that the Israeli aggression on Sana’a International Airport resulted in the martyrdom of four citizens so far and the injury of more than 20 airport workers, citizens and passengers.
He pointed out that, in implementation of the directives of the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, the airport’s technical readiness was restored to receive civilian flights.
He stated that the direct targeting of the airport led to material losses due to the bombing of the control tower, airport halls and some navigational devices, in addition to loss of life, most of whom were passengers and farewellers.
The director of Sana’a Airport indicated that operating civilian flights on time and resuming work at the airport this morning comes in implementation of the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership.. stressing the continuation of work on operating civilian flights to Jordan and international flights according to the daily flight schedule.
