Asphalting work began today in Al-Mahwit Governorate as part of the Al-Mahwit-Al-Qanawis road maintenance project. The project is being implemented by the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, with funding from the Road Maintenance Fund.

During the inauguration, the Authority’s Maintenance Director, Engineer Abdulqader Badi, and Branch Director, Engineer Ibrahim Al-Sharif, received a briefing from the Authority’s branch manager in the governorate, Engineer Ahmed Al-Yanai, on the progress of the work, the level of completion, the implementation phases, and the procedures followed to ensure the quality of the work and adherence to approved technical specifications.

Badi and Al-Sharif explained that the ongoing maintenance work is part of efforts to preserve the road network and facilitate the movement of citizens and goods, especially on roads connecting districts.

They pointed out that the Al-Mahwit-Al-Qanawis road is a vital route serving a large segment of the population and connecting the governorate to neighboring areas, making its maintenance and rehabilitation a priority within the periodic maintenance plans. They emphasized the General Authority for Roads’ commitment to executing these works according to the highest standards, ensuring the road’s sustainability.

The project includes repairing cracks and potholes, leveling damaged layers, and laying a new asphalt layer. This will improve traffic flow, reduce future maintenance costs, and enhance safety for road users.
