Civil Aviation Authority: Targeting Sana’a International Airport desperate attempt to break Yemen’s resilience

The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology of the Republic of Yemen condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli aggression’s airstrikes on Sana’a International Airport this evening, directly destroying civilian aircraft and passenger terminals, in addition to causing extensive damage to the airport’s runway and vital facilities.
The Authority indicated in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that this attack is not the first of its kind, but rather an extension of a long series of repeated attacks on the airport over the past ten years, both by the Saudi-Emirati aggression coalition and the Israeli aggression, which launched a similar attack on the airport on December 26, 2024, as part of a systematic campaign to destroy the civil aviation infrastructure in Yemen.
The statement noted that the attack comes at a time when the airport serves only a single humanitarian destination, to the Jordanian capital, Amman, confirming the Israeli aggression’s disregard for all international laws and norms, and its continued policy of collective punishment against the Yemeni people due to their solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
The Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority clarified that the cowardly bombing will not deter it from performing its national and professional duty.
Technical and engineering teams began implementing an emergency plan from the very first moments to repair the damage and restore operations to the airport as soon as possible.
The statement emphasized that Sana’a Airport is no longer just a civilian facility, but rather a symbol of Yemeni resilience that knows no bounds.
The Authority held the Zionist-American-British aggression fully responsible for this dangerous escalation and its consequences, calling on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the United Nations to take a clear position regarding the direct and systematic targeting of civil aviation in Yemen for more than a decade.
The Authority reiterated its full commitment to the continued provision of civil aviation services with a humanitarian character, affirming its confidence in its national cadres and the steadfastness of the Yemeni people in the face of all attempts at blockade and targeting.
