Discussing the conditions of Hodeida ports and the mechanism for developing their performance

 

A meeting in Al-Hodeida Governorate, headed by Governor Muhammad Qahim and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Muhammad Al-Hashemi, discussed the situation of the Red Sea Ports Corporation and the performance development mechanism.

The meeting reviewed the mechanism for addressing the difficulties and obstacles facing the port of Hodeida in light of the aggression and the siege, in order to ensure the provision of facilities to traders and importers of goods and consumer goods.

In the meeting, Governor Qahim affirmed the continued interest in the port of Hodeida and its development in line with the latest developments in regional ports and other countries, providing more advantages, facilitating procedures for the movement of trade, and reactivating its international commercial and navigational activity, which it was playing before the aggression.

He called on businessmen in the governorate to contribute effectively to lifting the siege imposed on the port of Hodeida seven years ago by organizing media campaigns on the humanitarian effects of the blockade, the port’s role in providing relief and humanitarian materials to the Yemeni people, and continuing popular and official media pressure at the level of Hodeida and other governorates with the aim of Lift the siege.

Governor Qahim also affirmed the readiness of the local authority in the governorate and the concerned authorities operating at the port to provide more advantages and facilities to traders and importers in a manner that suits their aspirations and contributes to maintaining a low level of prices in a way that alleviates the suffering of citizens.

Al-Hashemi praised the role of the leadership and sons of Hodeida in confronting the forces of aggression over the past seven years, noting that Hodeida Governorate is gaining great importance through its port, which must be taken care of to receive goods and consumables to face the high costs of transportation to other ports, especially after the decision to raise the price of customs tariffs. on cargo in the port of Aden.

He pointed out that the private sector and businessmen are able to pressure to lift the siege on the port of Hodeida, through which 70 percent of the citizens’ needs of basic foodstuffs and various commodities and merchandise enter through it. From the arrival of shipments to the port until their arrival to the provinces.

For his part, the Vice President of the Ports Corporation, Engineer Yahya Sharaf El-Din, reviewed the services of Hodeida port and the advantages and facilities it provides to businessmen and traders.

He pointed out that the port of Hodeida, despite the aggression and the destruction it was subjected to and the unjust siege, continued to serve the Yemeni people around the clock.

In turn, the Director General of the Yemeni Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control branch in the governorate, Ibrahim Al-Dawla, reviewed the control activities at the port and other outlets to examine basic commodities and merchandise, including foodstuffs, and ensure their safety and suitability for human consumption.

He confirmed the readiness of the authority’s laboratory, which is equipped with the latest equipment, to examine basic foodstuffs and others.

The country called on the World Food Program to cooperate with the authority to provide solutions for the authority’s laboratory, to conduct sample tests in Hodeida instead of sending it to Sana’a.
