Discussing the level of implementation of the UNDP project matrix for the rehabilitation of Hodeidah ports

A meeting at the Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation in the port of Hodeidah , Tuesday, 5/7/2024 AD, headed by the Chairman of the Corporation’s Board of Directors, Zaid Taha Al-Washli, and the Director of the UNDP Sub-Office in Hodeidah, Hema Khadka, discussed the aspects related to the matrix of projects for the rehabilitation of the ports of Hodeidah, Saleef, and Ras. Issa”.
The meeting, which included the Vice President of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Nasr Abdullah Al-Nusairi, touched on what had been accomplished in the matrix of projects submitted by the Corporation to the program, the reasons for the delay in implementing the projects, and the necessary needs that the UNDP had committed to in the Stockholm Agreement regarding the ports of Hodeidah, which were subjected to systematic destruction by the aggression coalition. .
In the meeting, Al-Washli stressed the need for the program to fulfill its promises, speed up the implementation of projects, and provide the necessary needs to rehabilitate what was destroyed by the aggression in the port of Hodeidah, including cranes, bridge cranes, navigation devices, and others.
In turn, the director of the sub-office of the United Nations Development Program in Hodeidah explained that the program understands the importance of Hodeidah ports and the necessity of rehabilitating and operating them technically to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. She stressed that the program is in the process of searching for funding to implement projects related to re-operating Hodeidah ports.
The meeting was attended by the Corporation’s general directors of the office of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ali Al-Ansi, projects and engineering supervision, Sami Maqbouli, procurement and warehouses, Ahmed Salem, and the container terminal, Shawqi Murshid, and from the UNDP, ports project coordinator, Ibrahim Al-Tawfiq, and the program’s quality engineer, Yahya Al-Ashwal.
