An expanded meeting in Sana’a today, chaired by the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohammed Qahim, discussed the results of the joint field campaign to remove speed bumps from the main roads linking Sana’a to the governorates of Sa’dah, Taiz, and Hodeidah.
The meeting, which included the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Administration and Rural Development, Ammar Al-Hareb; the Director of the Traffic Police, Major General Dr. Bakil Al-Barashi; the Deputy Chairman of the Road Maintenance Fund, Engineer Nabil Al-Muayyad; and the Deputy Director of Command and Control at the Ministry of Interior, Colonel Nasr Al-Masoudi, reviewed the progress of the campaign in its first and second phases, during which more than 400 speed bumps were removed from the targeted routes.
They heard from the field teams an explanation of the results achieved in enhancing traffic safety for road users and reducing the negative effects of these speed bumps, including the accidents and breakdowns they cause to citizens’ vehicles.
The attendees commended the keenness and attention of the Leader of the Revolution and the President of the Supreme Political Council, as well as the follow-up of the leadership of the Ministries of Interior, Transport, Public Works, Administration, and Local Development, to remove speed bumps from long stretches.
They expressed their gratitude to the participating teams from all departments, as well as to the citizens, for their cooperation and awareness.
They emphasized the need for local councils in the districts and security departments to stabilize the situation following the campaign, prevent the return of speed bumps to these roads, prevent the creation of new ones, and take the necessary measures against violators.
They confirmed the commencement of procedures for implementing the third phase of the campaign, which targets the removal of speed bumps from the roads of the governorates of Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Al Bayda, Marib, and other major roads that witness heavy traffic.
Following the meeting, the Minister of Transport and Public Works and the participants reviewed the progress of work at the Unified Traffic Issuance Center and the level of services it provides to citizens after equipping it with advanced digital systems that contribute to expediting procedures and completing transactions.
