Discussing Ways to Enhance Traffic Safety and Eliminate Illegal Traffic in the Capital Municipality

 

A meeting, attended by the Director-General of Traffic Police, Major General Dr. Bakil Al-Barashi, and the Head of the Public Works Sector in the Capital Municipality, Abdul Salam Al-Jaradi, discussed mechanisms to enhance traffic discipline and safety on the capital’s streets.

The meeting, attended by the Deputy Director of Traffic, Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Aqar; the Director of Traffic in the Capital Municipality, Colonel Najib Al-Asadi; his deputy, Colonel Hussein Al-Manhi; the Deputy Heads of Public Works, Abdul Latif Al-Wali and Salim Rajeh; and the Deputy Director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund, Rizq Al-Hajj, reviewed the matrix of measures proposed by the Traffic Police to reduce congestion and violations.

The meeting approved the implementation of several awareness-raising and advisory activities, followed by a joint field campaign to regulate informal markets that obstruct traffic and require commercial establishment owners to provide and organize parking spaces.

The meeting emphasized the need to regulate taxi routes and clear main streets of street vendors and provide suitable spaces for them.

The Traffic Police Director explained that the meeting was held in implementation of directives from the Ministry of Interior leadership, in coordination with the Capital Municipality, to enhance traffic safety and coordinate efforts among relevant authorities to reduce congestion and eliminate illegal activities.

The Public Works Sector Official at the Municipality praised the efforts of the Traffic Police, emphasizing the importance of involving directorate directors in the planned activities and projects.
