Discussion of Maintenance and Rehabilitation Efforts for Several Main Roads in Al Mahwit

 

The Governor of Al Mahwit, Hanin Qutaina, met today with the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works for the Roads Sector, Engineer Nabil Al-Haifi, to discuss efforts to maintain and rehabilitate the main roads in the governorate. This initiative aims to improve infrastructure and facilitate the movement of citizens and goods.

The meeting, which included advisors from the Roads Maintenance Fund, Engineer Taha Al-Mahbashi and Shawqi Al-Qaili, as well as the Directors of Maintenance at the Roads Corporation, Engineer Abdulqader Badi, Supervision and Quality at the Roads Maintenance Fund, Engineer Bashir Al-Sani, and Routine Maintenance at the Fund, Engineer Fahmi Al-Shawafi, addressed the damage sustained by several vital roads and current and future maintenance plans.

[Note: The text also mentions a separate meeting of the Fund’s Routine Maintenance Director, Engineer Fahmi Al-Shawafi, but these appear to be separate topics and are not directly related to the preceding discussion of road maintenance efforts.] The meeting, attended by the Director of the Roads and Bridges Corporation branch in the governorate, Engineer Ahmed Al-Yanai, the Deputy Director of Supervision and Quality Control at the Fund, Engineer Ali Dahmash, Engineer Ahmed Hussein, the Director of Jabal Al-Mahwit District, Khamash Habish, and several directors of executive offices, reviewed intervention priorities within available resources. These priorities include public transportation routes and the Republican Hospital in Al-Mahwit city, aiming to preserve the road network and reduce traffic hazards, especially given the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing.

Governor Qutaina emphasized the importance of redoubling efforts and strengthening coordination with the Road Maintenance Fund to implement maintenance work according to technical standards that ensure sustainability. He stressed that main roads must be given top priority due to their direct impact on transportation and local development.

For his part, the Deputy Director of the Roads Sector, Al-Haifi, reviewed the Fund’s interventions in maintaining several main roads in Al-Mahwit Governorate, including routine maintenance work on the Al-Mahwit-Al-Qanawis road, maintenance work on the Al-Mahwit-Sanaa road, and other projects. Al-Haifi emphasized the Fund’s commitment to continuing its plans to maintain roads, enhance traffic safety, and foster collaboration to overcome obstacles and ensure road maintenance projects meet the governorate’s needs and community aspirations.

The director of the Roads and Bridges Corporation branch, Al-Yanai, reviewed the efforts of the Road Maintenance Fund, the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges, and the local authority in successfully implementing road maintenance and rehabilitation projects in the governorate, which contribute to facilitating traffic flow, the movement of goods, and serving travelers.
The local authority in Al Mahwit Governorate honored the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works for the Roads Sector, Engineer Nabil Al-Haifi, and several engineering staff members today, in recognition of their role in the successful maintenance of a number of road projects in the governorate.

During the ceremony, the Governor of Al Mahwit emphasized that honoring Engineer Al-Haifi was in appreciation of his active role in advancing the roads sector, whether in maintaining existing roads, constructing new ones, or maintaining bridges, despite the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing.

He pointed out that the achievements in the roads sector were due to God’s grace and the sincere efforts and high competence of the Fund’s leadership.

For his part, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works for the Roads Sector commended the local authority’s efforts and cooperation in the success of road maintenance projects in the governorate, noting that the Fund is working diligently to maintain and repair main roads within the available resources.

He stressed the vital role played by technical staff in implementing the work and tasks on the ground, praising the General Authority for Roads and Bridges and its office in Al Mahwit Governorate for executing projects according to plan.
