Discussion of Maintenance and Rehabilitation Efforts on Several Main Roads in Dhamar

 

Dhamar Governor, Mohammed Al-Bakhiti, met today with the head of the Roads Maintenance Fund, Engineer Nabil Al-Haifi, to discuss ongoing efforts to maintain and rehabilitate the governorate’s main roads. These efforts aim to improve infrastructure and facilitate the movement of citizens and goods.

The meeting, which included the Fund’s advisors, Engineer Taha Al-Mahbashi and Shawqi Al-Qaili, as well as the Roads Corporation’s maintenance director, Engineer Abdulqader Badi, the Roads Maintenance Fund’s supervisory and quality director, Engineer Bashir Al-Sani’, the Fund’s routine maintenance director, Engineer Fahmi Al-Shawafi, and the Roads Corporation’s branch manager, Engineer Ibrahim Al-Sharif, addressed the damage sustained by several vital roads and current and future maintenance plans.

[Note: The text also mentions a separate meeting of the Roads Corporation branch management, but this appears unrelated to the main road meeting and is likely a separate topic.] The meeting, attended by the directors of the Roads and Bridges Corporation branch, Engineer Mohammed Al-Madani, and the maintenance center in Dhamar, Engineer Zakaria Al-Mawari, as well as the Deputy Director of Supervision and Quality Control at the Fund, Engineer Ali Dahmash, and the resident engineer in Dhamar Governorate, Anwar Al-Nawari, reviewed intervention priorities within available resources. These priorities aim to preserve the road network and reduce traffic hazards, especially given the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing.

Governor Al-Bakhiti emphasized the importance of redoubling efforts and strengthening coordination with the Road Maintenance Fund to implement maintenance work according to technical standards that ensure sustainability.

He stressed the necessity of giving top priority to main roads with high traffic volume due to their direct impact on transportation and local development.

For his part, Engineer Nabil Al-Haifi reviewed the Fund’s interventions in maintaining several main roads in Dhamar Governorate. These include the expansion of the Dhamar-Sanaa road, specifically the Rasaba section (dual carriageway), Phase Three, spanning 3.7 kilometers, and the maintenance work on the Sharq City-Atmah-Al-Dalil road, specifically the Al-Mahalala-Souq Al-Thuluth section, covering 15 kilometers.
He explained that the maintenance work included the Zarajah – Al-Qubtain – Al-Nakhlah – Al-Hamra crossing road, with a length of 30 kilometers “first phase”, the maintenance and restoration of the Sharq City – Al-Jumah – Sitran road, with a length of 25 kilometers, the implementation of the axle scale expansion project, the restoration and rehabilitation of the Dhaf market in Jahran Directorate, and other projects.
Al-Haifi emphasized the Fund’s commitment to continuing its plans to improve road safety and maintenance, and to strengthen partnerships and cooperation to overcome obstacles and ensure road maintenance projects meet the governorate’s needs and community aspirations.

The directors of the Roads and Bridges Corporation branch, Engineer Al-Madani, and the maintenance center in Dhamar, Engineer Zakaria Al-Mawari, reviewed the efforts of the Public Works sector, the Road Maintenance Fund leadership, the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges, and the local authority in successfully implementing road maintenance and rehabilitation projects in the governorate. These efforts contribute to facilitating traffic flow, the movement of goods, and serving travelers.

The meeting was attended by the director of the General Telecommunications Corporation branch, Engineer Fouad Al-Qawas.

Furthermore, the local authority in Dhamar Governorate honored the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Road Maintenance Fund, Engineer Nabil Al-Haifi, and several engineering staff members today in recognition of their role in the successful maintenance of a number of road projects in the governorate.

During the ceremony, the Governor of Dhamar emphasized that honoring Engineer Al-Haifi was in recognition of his active role in advancing the roads sector, whether in maintaining existing roads, constructing new ones, or maintaining and building bridges, despite the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing.

He explained that the achievements in the roads sector would not have been possible without God’s grace, and then thanks to the sincere efforts and high competence of the Fund’s leadership.

Governor Al-Bakhiti pointed out that the Road Maintenance Fund and the roads sector in general have completed many high-quality projects that previously required the assistance of foreign experts or companies, especially in the field of bridge construction and complex engineering works.

For his part, the head of the Road Maintenance Fund praised the efforts of the local authority and its cooperation in the success of road maintenance projects in the governorate, noting that the Fund is working diligently to maintain and repair main roads within the available resources.

He emphasized the vital role played by technical staff in implementing the work and tasks on the ground, commending the role of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges and its office in Dhamar Governorate in implementing projects according to plan.
