Discussion of the Work and Activities of the United Nations Mission in Hodeidah

The head and members of the National Redeployment Team in Hodeidah Governorate discussed the work and activities of the mission today with the Acting Head of the United Nations Mission to support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA), Mari Mashita.
In the meeting, the head of the National Team, Major General Ali Al-Moshki, urged the Acting Head of the UNMHA to fulfill its duties in implementing the Sweden Agreement, which is essentially a humanitarian agreement.
He stressed the need to support the Executive Mine Action Center to alleviate the suffering of civilians, represented by the widespread unexploded ordnance left behind by the aggression’s mercenaries, including individual mines, cluster bombs, and other munitions, which are claiming the lives of many civilians in the southern districts. He explained that organizations do not offer projects that rise to the level of meeting citizens’ aspirations for mine clearance and demining, but rather implement awareness-raising activities. These activities are supposed to accompany the removal and clearance of these dangerous and deadly remnants, and the mission must pay great attention to this aspect as it is at the core of its work and duties.
Major General Al-Mushki emphasized the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement’s responsibility regarding the military buildup carried out by aggression mercenaries from a number of foreign countries and governorates under the control of the Saudi and Emirati occupation.
He emphasized the mission’s obligation to oblige the aggression party to open the Saqm Al-Mahajar road, which was open to the movement of citizens back and forth. It was attacked by the mercenaries during their withdrawal from Hodeidah and remains closed to this day.
For her part, the Acting Head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement praised the positive cooperation of the national team in overcoming the difficulties that facilitate the implementation of the mission’s mandate in Hodeidah Governorate.
She emphasized the endeavor to reconcile the views of the parties in an effort to strengthen the ceasefire process in Hodeidah Governorate and open roads.
