An expanded meeting today, attended by the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohammed Qahim, and the Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Eng. Moeen Al-Mahaqri, discussed mechanisms for facilitating the arrival of commercial vessels and cargo containers to Hodeidah Port.

The meeting, attended by a number of officials from the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, the Chairman of the Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, Zaid Al-Washli, and the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Secretariat, Ali Al-Hadi, reviewed the efforts made to provide facilities for traders and businessmen and enhance maritime traffic to the Red Sea Ports Corporation’s ports, thus contributing to alleviating the suffering of citizens in light of the ongoing blockade and aggression.

The meeting also addressed the existing challenges in transporting goods from the port of Djibouti to the port of Hodeidah, the difficulties traders face in dealing with shipping lines and shipping companies, and the importance of working together to overcome these problems. During the meeting, the Ministers of Transport and Economy affirmed the Government of Construction and Change’s commitment to supporting the private sector by simplifying procedures, providing the necessary facilities for shipping and receiving goods, and enhancing confidence in the services provided at the port of Hodeidah.

They commended the technical and operational readiness of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, its full preparedness to receive commercial vessels and cargo containers, and ensure their smooth and efficient unloading. They emphasized that Hodeidah Port is distinguished by its strategic location and proximity to the capital, Sana’a, and the governorates, as well as its low transportation costs.

The two ministers reiterated the Supreme Political Council’s and the government’s commitment to developing the performance of Hodeidah Port and the ports affiliated with the Ports Corporation, and raising the level of logistical and navigational services to serve the national economy.

The meeting, attended by Mohammed Salah, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of the shipping chambers, and a number of merchants and businessmen, concluded with a series of recommendations aimed at enhancing cooperation and coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the continued flow of commercial vessels and containers of food, medicine, and petroleum products, thus contributing to meeting the needs of the Yemeni people.
