A training course on basic first aid began today at the General Authority for Roads and Bridges.
The three-day course, organized by the Authority’s Roads Vocational Training Center, aims to provide 28 trainees from the Authority’s staff with the necessary knowledge to provide immediate assistance in emergency situations, save lives, and develop their skills in providing first aid, including communication and handling emergency situations.

It also aims to encourage participants to take preventative measures to avoid injury and illness, enhance their confidence in their ability to provide first aid, provide them with skills in using first aid kits, and instill awareness of the importance of health and safety at home and in the workplace.

At the opening ceremony, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Hadrami, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, emphasized the importance of organizing such occupational safety courses, given their positive outcomes in preserving the safety of the Authority’s personnel, especially those working on projects.

He pointed out that first aid is of paramount importance in providing initial assistance to any person, preserving their life or preventing any disability in the event of an accident or sudden illness, until they are transported to the hospital.
Engineer Al-Hadrami stated that the Authority’s leadership prioritizes training within its annual plan, so that training programs cover various work-related aspects, foremost among which is first aid, which everyone should be familiar with.

He explained that the course includes both theoretical and practical aspects to ensure optimal results. He urged trainees to make the most of the course and to apply the knowledge and experience they have acquired to practical applications. The course covers several topics and concepts related to the basics and principles of first aid that can be provided in the event of any emergency injury or illness, particularly burns, bleeding, fainting, suffocation, poisoning, and various fractures.
