Hodeidah Ports Discussed: Plans to Enhance Capacity for Receiving Ships

 

A meeting in Hodeidah Governorate today, attended by the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohammed Qahim; the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, Dr. Abdullah Al-Amir; and the Governor of Hodeidah, Abdullah Otayfi, discussed the operating conditions at the ports of Hodeidah and Ras Isa, and plans to enhance their operational capabilities to receive fuel and cargo ships.

The meeting reviewed field reports on the extent of the damage to the infrastructure of the two ports as a result of the recent US-Zionist airstrikes targeting them, and the efforts made to rehabilitate and operate vital facilities to ensure the continuity of maritime activity and logistical services.

The meeting addressed the emergency work being carried out to contain the damage and ensure the continued supply of essential materials to the country, as well as mechanisms for enhancing coordination between the relevant authorities to enhance performance efficiency and expedite ship entry procedures.

The meeting also discussed proposed programs and implementation plans to expand reception and unloading capacities, and ways to overcome the challenges facing technical and administrative personnel at the ports. Ministers Qahim and Al-Amir commended the steadfastness of the workers at the ports of Hodeidah and Ras Isa, appreciating their ongoing efforts to keep maritime facilities operational despite the exceptional circumstances. They emphasized that the ports will remain a major lifeline for the Yemeni people.

They also emphasized the importance of intensifying coordination with relevant international bodies to document the aggression’s crimes against civilian ports and to push for practical steps to rehabilitate the infrastructure to enhance the country’s food and economic security.

The Ministers of Transport and Oil and the Governor of Hodeidah reviewed the progress of work at the ports of Ras Isa and Hodeidah, confirming the continued entry of ships and the regularity of operations. They praised the progress of work and the improvement in the condition of the facilities following the direct shelling.
