Inspection of the Progress of Removal of Damage Caused by Rockslide in Ajama Area, Al Mahwit

 

The Secretary-General of the Local Council in Al Mahwit Governorate, Ali Al-Zikam, and the Deputy Governor, Ahmed Al-Qatma, today inspected the progress of work to remove the damage caused by the rockslide in the Ajama area, in the Al Sharqi district of Al Mahwit City.

Al-Zikam confirmed that work teams are continuing to remove the remains of damaged buildings and rocks and debris resulting from the collapse that occurred in the Ajama area due to heavy rains, to preserve the safety of nearby homes.

He called on citizens to stay away from areas prone to rockslides, especially during rainfall. He emphasized the importance of cooperating with the relevant authorities and reporting any potential hazards to ensure everyone’s safety.

The Deputy Governor affirmed that efforts are continuing to remove the remaining parts of collapsed buildings and fallen rocks, expedite the drainage of rainwater, and take urgent preventive measures to reduce losses resulting from floods.

He called on everyone to stand by the affected families and support them in rebuilding their homes and providing for their basic needs. Engineer Mohammed Al-Qahtani, Director of the Executive Unit for Public Road Maintenance in the governorate, and Engineer Mukhtar Al-Turki, a representative of the Central Interventions Unit in the governorate, confirmed that field teams and unit equipment worked to remove rocks and damaged parts of homes caused by the collapses.
