Land transport in Yemen .. rising from the rubble

The land transportation sector in Yemen has suffered huge losses and damages over the past five years of aggression and the blockade, which have negatively affected economic growth, as this sector represents its importance in moving the wheel of development and securing job opportunities for a wide segment of society.
Given the importance that land transport occupies as an important economic and vital resource, the General Authority for Land Transport Regulatory Affairs has given this sector since the beginning of the aggression, its interest in implementing a number of measures to promote it from the rubble and restore its activity and vital role.
The Authority’s interventions culminated in taking quick and effective measures and treatments that would continue the work and organize the affairs of land transport in the governorates with modest efforts and unparalleled determination to overcome obstacles and transit towards success and thwart aggression plans aimed at disrupting the movement of land, sea and air transport.
The report of the Ministry of Transport estimated the amount of damages and losses suffered by the road transport sector in Yemen as a result of the aggression during the five years, 176 million dollars, according to preliminary estimates of the General Authority for Land Transport Regulation, as well as human losses.
The report stated that the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) received a copy of it, that the direct damages and losses suffered by the authority were six million dollars, which included bombing and destroying the infrastructure, installations, equipment of the authority and its land ports … indicating that the main center of the authority was damaged in the capital’s secretariat and the destruction of the international land port and the portal Wild cans completely.
The report pointed out that the aggression caused direct and indirect economic damage to the General Organization for Land Transport Affairs, estimated at 122 million and 241 thousand dollars, as a result of the interruption of collection from the voluntary channels in the ports and branches of the authority.
The report stated that the aggression and its mercenaries took control of the branches of the General Organization for Land Transport Affairs in the governorates of Aden and Hadramout, as well as the terminals of the deposit and shipping, which led to the suspension of the collection of their revenues and their loss, as well as the disruption of the work on the list of returns for wages and services of land ports.
According to the Land Transport Affairs Authority report, the aggression and the blockade caused future projects that were to be implemented and their revenues to be stalled and stalled, at 47 million and 385 thousand dollars, which doubled the revenue losses in this aspect.
The report pointed out that losses of projects stalling and stumbling included construction projects in the international land port of Al-Tawal, dry port projects and passenger transport stations, as well as land centers for logistical services in the ports.
The head of the General Authority for Land Transport Affairs, Walid Al-Wadai, affirmed that the authority, its branches and its land ports were subjected to a systematic brutal aggression that caused the complete destruction, disruption, and paralysis of ground transportation.
He pointed out that the aggression coalition bombed several vital installations of economic importance and imposed a total blockade of ports, airports and land ports.
Al-Wadii pointed out that a specialized administrative and technical work team has been assigned from the authority’s cadres to find alternatives and solutions to the problems that hindered the authority’s activity.
And that the technical, professional and administrative cadres worked in the authority’s main center to organize land transport affairs in the capital, Sana’a, under the bombing of the aggression … pointing to the importance of land transport being the most common and flexible, in addition to being the cheapest and fastest way, as well as its high ability to carry goods over short and long distances It has positive returns for the citizen and the state.
He also affirmed that the authority has embarked on implementing emergency and emergency plans and studies that include alternatives and treatments through its presence in several governorates as branches that carry out road transport activities, including reactivating the work in the two branches of the authority in the governorates of Taiz and Hodeidah by 100 percent. Work is still ongoing to open branches in the remaining governorates.
The Chairman of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority considered the efforts made to activate the activity of the authority, a step that contributed to the organization of land transport activities and services and the collection of revenue … indicating that the authority prepared technical studies to establish important projects in the various governorates, whether with regard to parking and passenger stations “urban transport” or transportation Between cities.
According to Al-Wadei, the authority seeks, in accordance with the strategic goals and executive procedures of the national vision to build the modern Yemeni state, to provide high-quality services, including the establishment of dry land ports and logistical centers at the entrances to major cities according to technical studies that keep pace with the rapid developments in land transport activities
