Launching the Rehabilitation of Passenger Transport Parking Lots in Bab al-Yemen, Sana’a

 

The Chairman of the Social Affairs Committee of the Local Council of the Sana’a Capital, Hamoud al-Naqeeb, today launched a campaign to rehabilitate, organize, and improve passenger transport parking lots in the Bab al-Yemen area.

The week-long campaign, implemented by the General Authority for Land Transport Regulation in the Sana’a, includes the Al-Safiyah Directorate, the Public Works Office, the Traffic Police, the Sanitation Fund and Project, and the Al-Safiyah District Security Department.

The campaign aims to notify owners of scrap and broken-down vehicles within the Bab al-Yemen passenger transport lot for three days, after which the necessary measures will be taken to remove and transport them.

The campaign includes cleaning and removing accumulated dust and garbage from the lot, constructing a gate for public transport vehicles, and installing five lighting poles with solar-powered spotlights.

At the launch, the captain emphasized the importance of implementing the campaign to rehabilitate and improve the public transport parking and sorting areas in the Bab al-Yemen area, reorganizing and preparing them appropriately to ensure the entry of public transport from the streets and alleviate traffic congestion.

He urged everyone to exert effort and work in a team spirit to ensure the success of the campaign and achieve its objectives, making the Bab al-Yemen public transport parking area a model for other public transport parking and sorting areas.

For his part, the Director of the Transport Authority branch in the Secretariat, Mohammed al-Shahari, explained that the campaign comes within the framework of the Authority’s and the local authority’s commitment and efforts, in cooperation with relevant authorities in the Secretariat, to rehabilitate and improve public transport parking and sorting areas, organize work mechanisms, enhance traffic safety, and facilitate traffic flow on the streets.

Participating in the campaign were a member of the Secretariat’s local authority, Ali al-Rahbi, and the Secretariat’s Directors of Works, Engineer Abdulsalam al-Jaradi; Traffic, Colonel Najib al-Asadi; and Directorate, Saleh al-Maysari; Deputy Directors of the Cleaning Project, Rizq al-Hajj; Traffic, Colonel Hussein al-Munhi; Transport, Abdulbari Dreib; Director of the Facilities Department at the Public Works Office, Dhaker al-Amri; and a number of executive leaders.
