Meeting Chaired by the Attorney General Discusses Violations in the Capital Municipality

 

A meeting held today, chaired by Attorney General Judge Abdulsalam Al-Houthi, discussed aspects of cooperation and coordination between the Violations Prosecutions and the Directors of Public Works in the Capital Municipality, with the aim of controlling building, food supply, health, and environmental violations and enforcing the law without exception.

In the meeting, which included Mayor of the Capital, Hamoud Abbad, First Attorney General Judge Abdulkarim Al-Shami, Head of the Inspection Department at the Public Prosecution, Judge Ali Al-Ahsab, and representatives of the Violations Prosecutions and Directors of Public Works Offices in the Capital Municipality, the Attorney General called for a new phase of serious work to rectify the situation and strengthen the rule of law.

He emphasized that the current phase requires unified efforts and teamwork among the various stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of close cooperation between the Public Prosecution, the Capital Municipality, the Public Works Offices, and the security agencies to ensure justice, development, and the protection of the public interest.

The Attorney General explained that the Public Prosecution’s jurisdiction is limited to legal and judicial procedures, issuing indictments or deciding that there are no grounds for filing a lawsuit in accordance with the law, and that the closure or opening of commercial establishments is not among its duties.

He directed that cases related to violations be resolved expeditiously and that any administrative or field deficiencies be addressed, stressing that the Public Prosecution will take the necessary measures to correct any violations and ensure the implementation of its decisions.

He also directed that any violations discovered in the field be immediately stopped, and that all procedures be documented with photographs and official reports to maintain integrity and transparency in the work.

He emphasized that achieving justice and the rule of law represent the foundation for building and developing the capital, and that implementing regulations with fairness and justice is the best way to protect lives and property.

For his part, the Mayor of the Capital emphasized the importance of applying the law with justice and fairness, noting that the goal of these efforts is to serve the community and achieve the public interest.

He explained that there are challenges facing the relevant authorities in implementing the laws and correct procedures, calling for enhanced coordination and integration among all parties to ensure the effective application of the law and achieve justice in society.

He pointed out that some serious violations, particularly in the areas of unauthorized construction or the depletion of public resources, could lead to serious consequences that affect lives. This calls for a serious stance and strict application of the law, taking into account the specifics of each case.

For his part, the First Attorney General emphasized the need for everyone to sense responsibility and act in accordance with the spirit of the law, emphasizing that the relationship between the Public Prosecution and executive authorities must be based on respect for the law and the protection of the public interest.

He pointed out that confronting cases of violations and corruption requires greater seriousness and organized efforts to correct the administrative and oversight process, thus enhancing confidence in state institutions.

Al-Shami noted that adherence to legal texts and their strict implementation is the fundamental pillar for achieving justice and guaranteeing rights, noting the importance of observing the rules related to the statute of limitations when considering criminal cases.

For his part, the Head of the Inspection Department emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation and coordination between the Public Prosecution, the directorates, and the Public Works Offices, and working as a team to achieve common goals. He emphasized that the public interest must remain above all other considerations. Meanwhile, the public prosecutors and public works directors reviewed some of the issues on the ground and the challenges they face, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in accomplishing joint tasks, protecting public funds, and maintaining order.

The meeting approved the continuation of meetings and direct communication to resolve issues and outstanding points, and to address challenges and violations in the capital with full responsibility.
