Meeting in Hodeidah Discusses Mechanisms for Improving Agricultural Product Marketing

 

A meeting held in Hodeidah Governorate today discussed mechanisms for developing and improving the marketing of agricultural products in the Tihama region, ensuring increased economic returns for farmers and reducing waste.

The meeting included the Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Eng. Maeen Al-Mahaqri; the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohammed Qahim; the Governor of Hodeidah, Abdullah Otaifi; and the First Deputy Governor, Ahmed Al-Bishri.

It was devoted to discussing the agricultural marketing situation in Tihama and the difficulties farmers face in distributing produce, particularly fruit and vegetable crops.

The meeting focused on the mango crop, one of the most prominent crops in Tihama, and discussed possible solutions to absorb the surplus.

This included establishing a mango juice factory to convert the surplus into marketable products. The meeting also discussed expanding the Bajel factory and increasing its production capacity.

The meeting emphasized the importance of involving agricultural associations and local authorities in organizing marketing operations, establishing exhibitions to promote products, and activating the role of the Tihama Development Authority in this regard. The meeting, attended by Assistant Undersecretary of the Governorate, Ahmed Al-Hadi, Chairman of the Tihama Development Authority, Ali Hazza, and a number of stakeholders, recommended submitting a vision to the Ministry of Economy and Industry and relevant authorities.

This vision includes proposed solutions and a plan to absorb surplus agricultural production, which will contribute to reducing losses and achieving economic viability for farmers.
