Minister of Foreign Affairs Discusses Several Humanitarian Issues with UN Resident Coordinator

 

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Jamal Amer, met today with the UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Julian Harens.

The meeting discussed several pressing humanitarian issues, most notably the water project in the Al-Hawban area of Taiz Governorate, ways to complete the repair of the Ad Dali’ Road, and the importance of prioritizing the mines issue.

During the meeting, Minister Amer emphasized the utmost importance of completing the water project in the Al-Hawban area of Taiz Governorate, emphasizing the need to provide sufficient funding to implement this vital project, as it is a humanitarian project serving hundreds of thousands of citizens in the governorate.

He also highlighted the importance of completing the repair of the Ad Dali’ Road, which was recently opened through local initiatives, given its role in facilitating citizen movement and alleviating humanitarian suffering.

The Foreign Minister called on the United Nations to give the mine issue the attention it deserves, noting that the majority of its victims are civilians, especially children, women, and the elderly.

He expressed regret that donors have ignored the seriousness of this humanitarian problem, which claims lives and causes permanent disabilities.

For his part, the UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, Harens, affirmed the UN’s concern for humanitarian issues in Yemen and its ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
