Minister of Transport and Public Works Inspects Hodeidah Port and Meets with Red Sea Ports Corporation Leadership

 

Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohammed Qahim, held a meeting today with the leadership of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation and the sectors operating at Hodeidah Port.

During the meeting, the Minister praised the exceptional efforts exerted by all sectors, especially the leadership of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, to ensure the continuity of port operations despite the significant challenges and damage inflicted on infrastructure, including docks, equipment, and machinery, as a result of direct attacks.

He expressed his gratitude to the national staff for developing and implementing successful alternative plans to overcome obstacles and complete the rehabilitation of damaged docks, thus ensuring the continued reception of ships and the flow of essential goods.

He noted that the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing require everyone to rise to the level of responsibility and the existing challenges, and that exceptional plans must be in place across all sectors. He emphasized the crucial role of the ports sector in securing food, medicine, and petroleum products. Minister Qahim stressed the need to redouble efforts in reconstruction, continue routine maintenance, and develop innovative solutions to expedite projects and enhance maritime and commercial performance.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Engineer Zaid Al-Washli, and his deputy, Nasr Al-Nusairi, presented a report on the work and activities carried out during the past period, as well as the plans currently underway to address present challenges and modernize operational mechanisms.

Following this, the Minister of Transport and Public Works conducted a field visit to the docks of Hodeidah Port, where he observed the operational activity and the progress of maintenance work being carried out by technical and engineering teams to rehabilitate the docks targeted by the Zionist enemy. He commended the high level of discipline and morale of the workers.

The meeting and visit were attended by the Director of Hodeidah Port Customs, Abdullah Habib, and a number of officials from the Corporation and relevant authorities.
