Minister of Transport: More than 2,500 pilgrims evacuated through Sana’a International Airport

Caretaker Minister of Transport Abdul Wahab Al-Durra inspected the progress of work at Sana’a International Airport, the technical and professional operational readiness and the services provided for the flights of pilgrims to perform Hajj and Umrah for the year 1445 AH.
The Minister of Transport, along with the Undersecretary of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority, Raed Jabal, listened to Sana’a Airport Director Khaled Al-Shayef to an explanation about the navigational and ground services provided to Yemen Airways planes for pilgrims’ flights, in addition to the facilities provided to pilgrims to speed up travel.
Al-Durra also listened to the remarks of some pilgrims about the difficulties they faced in the offices of travel agencies, expressing thanks to the leaders of the Ministries of Transport and Guidance and Hajj and Umrah, for the quick response and presence with them while traveling from the airport.
During the visit, the Minister of Transport in the caretaker government confirmed that the process of evacuating pilgrims at Sana’a International Airport is proceeding according to what was planned and prepared in advance in cooperation with the Ministry of Guidance and Hajj and Umrah Affairs, the Civil Aviation Authority, Yemen Airways and the relevant authorities.
He pointed out that the total number of pilgrims who were evacuated within 72 hours from Sanaa International Airport to Jeddah on Yemen Airways planes amounted to more than two thousand and 500 pilgrims on board 14 flights.
He urged the leadership of Sana’a Airport to provide more facilities, intensify the number of employees and the continuous presence to complete, facilitate and accelerate the travel procedures for pilgrims in accordance with the requirements and conditions in force at international airports.
