Minister of Transport  & Public Works reviews progress of work at Hodeidah Port

Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Ayash Qahim, today, Saturday, 27 Safar 1446 AH corresponding to 31-8-2024 AD, reviewed the progress of work at the port of Hodeidah.

Qahim inspected the operational movement in the port yards and docks, the smoothness of performance in unloading cargo ships, unloading commercial containers, the level of organization of yards and docks and preparing the entry of ships.

He was briefed on the damage to the port and the bridge cranes targeted by the criminal Zionist entity, and the efforts made to improve port services, develop work mechanisms, and facilitate procedures and tasks for agents and merchants of maritime activity.

He listened to the Chairman of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Zaid Al-Washli, explaining the efforts to address the damage to the facilities and equipment of the Hodeidah Port as a result of the Zionist bombing and its previous targeting by the Saudi-American aggression coalition.

The Minister of Transport and Public Works also visited the general warehouse at the port, which contains spare parts for the Red Sea Ports Corporation’s equipment and machinery, and the comprehensive strategic stockpile to secure the needs of marine equipment spare parts.

He also reviewed the progress of work at the marine floating slipway, and the efforts to maintain the launches in the slipway, and listened to the leadership of the institution and the technical crews to explain the plans and programs for periodic maintenance of marine vessels to preserve them and enhance their safety.

The Minister of Transport and Public Works inspected the progress of work at the information center for the Hodeidah Port community, and the technical work and data automation it is doing within the equipment it contains in hosting the services of the entities operating in the port within the framework of the trend towards rapid digital services.

The Minister of Transport and Public Works held a meeting with the leadership of the Red Sea Ports Corporation to review the performance of the corporation and the level of progress of tasks in the movement of maritime activity and the extent of the flow of cargo and container ships to provide the people’s needs for goods and commercial materials.

During the meeting, which included the First Deputy Governor of Hodeidah, Ahmed Al-Bishri, mechanisms for improving port services and promoting their activity were discussed in a way that meets the ambition to keep pace with the requirements of the stage and translate the leadership’s directives.

Qahim noted the prominent role played by the leadership and employees of the Red Sea Ports Corporation in enhancing steadfastness and serving the interests of the Yemeni people, noting that the port of Hodeidah represents the vital artery for millions of Yemenis. He called on everyone to redouble their efforts, each in his position and specialization, in developing the performance that ensures achieving a new qualitative leap in port services, indicating that the next stage will witness many transformations in this regard.

For his part, the Undersecretary Al-Bishri referred to a number of directives urged by the leadership to achieve a qualitative transition in services that citizens should feel, indicating that the Ports Corporation is one of the most prominent service agencies that touch the needs of the Yemeni people.

While the Chairman of the Ports Corporation, Zaid Ahmed Taha Al-Washli, appreciated the visit of the Minister of Transport and Public Works, which comes as an embodiment of the vision of the Government of Change and Construction, which places many directions and programs on its shoulders, stressing the keenness to implement all directives that contribute to developing the services of the Corporation.

The meeting and visits were attended by the Chairman of the Roads and Bridges Corporation, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Hadrami, and the Chairman of the Road Maintenance Fund, Eng. Nabil Al-Haifi, and the Vice Chairman of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Nasr Al-Nusairi, and the Directors General of the Ports Corporation and a number of specialists and technicians.
