Ministry of Transport Condemns Israeli Aggression on Sana’a Airport & Hodeidah Port

The Ministry of Transport and Public Works condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli aggression targeting Sana’a International Airport and Hodeidah Port, which resulted in extensive damage to vital civilian facilities used to provide basic humanitarian services to citizens.
The Ministry explained in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the Israeli aggression directly targeted aircraft, the runway, the control tower, and the arrival and departure lounges for passengers, according to preliminary statistics.
The statement indicated that this aggression resulted in the suspension of civilian flights from Sana’a International Airport to its only destination, Jordan, which provides humanitarian services to patients, travelers, students, and expatriates. It also halted UN flights and humanitarian flights from public humanitarian organizations in Yemen.
The statement emphasized that the US-Israeli aggression deliberately targeted the ports of the Yemeni Red Sea Corporation, recognizing their importance and connection to the lives of the Yemeni people.
These include the strategic port of Hodeidah, which provides medicine and food to the Yemeni people, and the Ras Isa oil port, which provides petroleum products to various governorates. The statement noted that this terrorist attack represents a flagrant violation of international conventions, foremost among them the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, and constitutes a full-fledged crime against the Yemeni people, who are suffering from a stifling blockade and tragic humanitarian conditions.
The statement explained that the raids targeted civilian facilities that represent a lifeline for millions of Yemenis. It noted that the destruction of airports and ports only serves to deepen the humanitarian tragedy experienced by Yemenis and exposes the true face of Washington and Tel Aviv as sponsors of global terrorism.
The ministry considered this aggression a blatant attempt to dissuade the Yemeni people from their principled and steadfast positions in support of the Palestinian cause and the people of Gaza in the face of the Zionist aggression. It called on the United Nations and the international community to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities and take urgent steps to halt the aggression and hold the aggressors accountable.
It called on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to condemn this targeting of Sana’a Airport and work to protect civilian facilities. It also called on human rights and humanitarian organizations to document these crimes, expose them to the world, and pressure them to lift the unjust blockade on Yemen. It emphasized that the targeting of civilian facilities is an extension of a long history of violations and crimes committed by the United States and Israel against free peoples.
The Ministry reiterated that Yemen will remain steadfast, and that these attacks will not weaken the resolve of its people and their determination to maintain their honorable stance in confronting global hegemony and arrogance.
It also emphasized that the response to the enemy will be imminent and will be severe, and that its airports, ports, and vital facilities will be among the strategic targets of our armed forces.
