Progress of the Fourth Phase of the Ibb City Ring Road Rehabilitation Project

 

The Secretary-General of the Ibb Governorate Local Council, Amin Al-Warafi, today inspected the progress of the fourth phase of the Ibb City Western Ring Road Rehabilitation Project, funded by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

Al-Warafi, along with the Director of the Governorate’s Public Works Office, Engineer Ibrahim Al-Shami, listened to an explanation from the project consultant, Engineer Mutia Al-Harthi, about the components of the fourth phase, which costs $1,422,000 and spans a length of five kilometers and 320 meters. This includes concrete paving, asphalt repair, painting of tombstones and medians, installation of signage, and landscaping. He indicated that the completion rate for this phase has reached 25 percent.

During the visit, the Secretary-General of the Governorate’s Local Government commended the efforts of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in funding essential priority projects in the governorate to meet local development needs and enhance public services.

He urged those implementing the project to quickly complete the remaining work in the fourth phase according to the agreed specifications and within the specified timeframe. This will contribute to facilitating traffic and citizen mobility, and prepare for the implementation of the fifth phase of this vital project.

They were accompanied by the Deputy Director of the Governorate’s Public Works Office, Essam Al-Sabry; the Director of the Facilities Department, Engineer Aba Dhar Al-Ghashem; and the heads of the third and fifth regions, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Samah and Engineer Sakhr Al-Nashri.

Furthermore, Secretary-General Al-Warafi, accompanied by the Governor’s Deputy, Qasim Al-Masawi, and the Director of the Public Works Office, Al-Shami, inspected the progress of the Ras Mushura Al-Udain Road Rehabilitation Project. The project, which costs 200 million riyals and is 30 percent complete, is funded and supervised by the Road Maintenance Fund and implemented by the General Roads Authority.
The project includes asphalt and concrete works spanning 950 meters in length and eight meters in width.

He also inspected the implementation level of the Qahza Fountain and the Sabeel Fountain, at a total cost of fifty million riyals, funded by the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund.
