Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohammed Qahim, and the Governor of Hodeidah, Abdullah Atifi, inspected the progress of work today on the expansion and rehabilitation project of the northern entrance to Hodeidah city (the Al-Sham-Al-Salif road) and the project to repair and maintain the main road in the Al-Turbah area of Bajil District.
Qahim and Atifi reviewed the ongoing work on the expansion project, which includes paving the second 15-kilometer lane to convert it into a dual carriageway. This includes the construction of medians, lighting, and landscaping, at a total cost of 2.5 billion riyals, jointly funded by the local authority and the Road Maintenance Fund.
During the visit, Minister Qahim explained that these projects are a direct result of the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to prioritize the roads sector and improve services provided to citizens.
He considered the project to expand the northern entrance to Hodeidah city a vital artery that will contribute to facilitating the movement of travelers and the transport of goods to and from the port of Salif.
The Minister of Transport and Public Works emphasized the special priority that Hodeidah Governorate holds in the Ministry’s infrastructure development plans, given its economic and service importance. He affirmed the commitment to overcoming any obstacles that might hinder implementation to ensure the sustainability of these vital projects.
