Sana’a Airport Resumes Civilian Flights with Return and Departure of 282 Passengers

 

Sana’a International Airport resumed civilian flights today via Yemenia Airlines after a ten-day hiatus due to a blatant Israeli aggression.

The first Yemenia Airlines flight, an Airbus 320, returned from Queen Alia International Airport in Jordan, carrying 138 passengers. The same plane departed Sana’a International Airport with approximately 144 passengers on board, bound for the Jordanian capital, Amman.

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Yahya al-Sayani, Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, considered the resumption of flights a message of Yemen’s steadfastness in the face of the brutal aggression. He confirmed that the airport is operating at full technical and operational capacity, providing navigation and ground services in accordance with international standards approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Al-Sayani indicated that arriving and departing passengers were subjected to the usual procedures and arrangements in the arrival and departure halls, in a smooth and seamless manner, as is the case at international airports. He emphasized that Sana’a International Airport is ready to receive all civilian flights at any time.

For his part, the Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemenia Airlines, Khalil Jahaf, considered the arrival of the first flight to Sana’a Airport an important step in breaking the ongoing air blockade. He noted that “two daily flights will operate to and from the airport in the coming days.”

For his part, the Director of Sana’a International Airport, Khaled Al-Shaif, confirmed that the airport’s technical staff are ready to operate efficiently, and that all operating systems are operating in accordance with internationally approved safety and security standards.

A number of passengers and arrivals via Sana’a International Airport expressed their satisfaction at completing their travel and returning to their homeland via this vital airport, which provides professional humanitarian services and high-quality treatment from Sana’a Airport staff. The delegation was received by the Undersecretary of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Arif Musleh, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Airports Sector, Yahya Al-Kahlani, and a number of officials from the Ministry of Transport and Public Works and the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology.
