Sana’a discusses civic planning, random building problems

A meeting chaired by the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohammed Qahim, discussed urban planning, the problems of random construction, and the role of the ministry in this regard.

The meeting, which included leaders of the public works, housing, and roads sectors, addressed aspects related to preparing and implementing general plans, and the resulting procedures for organizing all construction works, as well as the mechanisms capable of addressing the problems resulting from random construction.

During the meeting, Minister Qahim stressed the keenness to put an end to the problems related to random construction, noting that urban planning is one of the priority topics that will be focused on during the coming period.

He pointed out the ministry’s efforts to control the issue of planning and the speed of implementing general plans to avoid problems resulting from random construction in light of the ongoing urban expansion in the capital and governorates.

He pointed out the interest of the revolutionary leadership represented by Mr. Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and the President of the Supreme Political Council, His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi al-Mashat, in the issue of planning and preventing random construction and the resulting future challenges in providing services to citizens.

He reiterated that the government of change and construction represented by the Ministry of Transport and Works will work to organize the issue of planning and overcome any problems related to powers, tasks and competencies.

The Minister of Transport and Works also confirmed the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council’s support for the government in implementing its general program, including ambitious axes and goals that include administrative and institutional reform and activating the role of state institutions to perform their tasks and responsibilities towards the people.

For his part, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Planning Sector at the General Authority for Lands, Mohammed Al-Humaiqani, addressed the difficulties facing the planning sector and the importance of the role of the ministry and its offices in implementing general plans on the ground.
