Traffic Police Launch Campaign to Seize Violating Motorcycles

The Director of Traffic Police, Major General Dr. Bakil Al-Barashy, launched a comprehensive campaign today to seize violating motorcycles across the Capital Municipality and several governorates.
Major General Al-Barashy, accompanied by the Director of Traffic for the Capital Municipality, Colonel Najib Al-Asadi, and a number of officers and traffic leaders, reviewed the progress of the campaign. This campaign is in implementation of the Cabinet’s decision regarding the motorcycle violations list. It follows an intensive month-long awareness campaign, during which motorcycle drivers were notified of repeated traffic violations and given an opportunity to rectify their violations.
At the launch, Major General Al-Barashy emphasized that the campaign aims to protect lives and property, and to enhance the rule of law and public traffic safety, especially given the high rate of accidents and violations resulting from the reckless use of motorcycles. He stated that the violations covered by the regulations include driving without license plates, driving against traffic lights, running red lights, riding with more than one person, using noisy devices and prohibited flashlights, randomly stopping at intersections and intersections, driving on sidewalks and medians, and other violations. He also exempted the wearing of helmets from the decision until they are available in the market at an appropriate price.
The Traffic Police Director indicated that the law will apply to everyone without exception, including traffic officers, for the safety of all. He called on all motorcycle owners and drivers to rectify their status and adhere to the regulations.
He noted that the Traffic Police branches in the Capital Municipality and the governorates have been directed to oblige all motorcycle showrooms and shops not to sell any motorcycle unless it is registered and accompanied by basic safety equipment, most notably a helmet.
For his part, the Traffic Police Director in the Capital Municipality indicated that the campaign targets unregistered motorcycles, motorcycles that violate the rules and enter highways or are driven without adequate safety equipment, and the traffic violations listed in the Cabinet decision.
He emphasized that the Traffic Police are committed to enforcing order and the law and treating everyone with respect. He expressed appreciation, stating that the campaign aims to enforce traffic discipline, not impose penalties for the sake of the penalty itself. He called on all motorcycle drivers to adhere to traffic regulations and avoid committing violations, which will enhance traffic discipline and safety, preserve the safety and property of citizens, and ensure safe passage.
