Traffic Police Publishes List of Traffic Violation Penalties for Motorcycles

The Traffic Police announced the publication of a list of traffic violation penalties for motorcycles, approved by a Cabinet decision. The list will officially go into effect starting the first week of August 2025.
The list includes financial and administrative penalties for nine traffic violations that are among the most prominent causes of accidents and congestion on public roads. The penalties vary according to the violations committed, with the penalty doubled for repeat offenses.
The Director-General of the Traffic Police, Major General Dr. Bakil Al-Barashy, explained that the goal of the list is not punishment, but rather to protect lives and regulate traffic on the roads.
He pointed out that motorcycles have become an integral part of the traffic landscape, but they require controls to ensure the safety and security of all. He pointed out that the system is not a restriction, but rather a safety measure, and when everyone complies, the road becomes safer. He explained that the Traffic Police, following the traffic awareness campaign launched at the beginning of July, will launch field campaigns to apprehend violators of the new regulation, in coordination with relevant authorities.
He emphasized that enforcement will be firm and fair, calling on citizens to cooperate in building a disciplined traffic environment that protects lives and property.
The violations covered by the regulation include driving without license plates, driving in the wrong lane, running red lights, not wearing a helmet, riding with more than one person, using noisy devices and prohibited flashlights, random parking at intersections and roundabouts, driving on sidewalks and medians, and other serious violations.
The Traffic Police called on everyone to engage positively with these efforts to contribute to achieving the desired goals and results.
