Minister of Transport meets resident representative of UNDP

Minister of Transport, Abdul Wahab Al-Durra, met t, Sunday, in Sana’a, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Yemen, Zeina Ghaleb.

The meeting, which was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Air Transport Sector, Abdullah Al-Ansi, and the Deputy Resident Representative, Nadia Al-Awalmeh, discussed aspects of joint cooperation and the mechanism for developing the transport sector, supporting air transport at Sana’a International Airport, and its needs for equipment and navigational devices, in a way that contributes to the development of civil aviation services.

He reviewed the necessary projects and needs that the UNDP committed to in the Stockholm Agreement regarding the Hodeida port, which was subjected to systematic and deliberate destruction by the US-Saudi aggression coalition, including light and heavy equipment, maintenance work for equipment, electricity, cranes (bridge cranes) and other projects.

In the meeting, Al-Durra handed the UN official an assessment report of the necessary needs of Sana’a Airport, indicating that the airport is currently operating with navigational capabilities, equipment and devices that have been developed with professional Yemeni expertise and competencies that have greatly contributed to its operation to provide its navigational services.

He stated that the evaluation presented was prepared by technicians and professionals from the Civil Aviation and Meteorological Authority, who have great experience in the field of civil aviation.

In turn, Ghaleb stressed the necessity of joint cooperation in order to provide the needs of Sana’a Airport, noting that the program will mobilize the necessary funding to provide navigation and security equipment for Sana’a International Airport and Hodeida port projects.
