A meeting in Taiz reviews the plan of Taiz International Airport and its rehabilitation plan

 

An expanded meeting in Taiz Governorate, in the presence of members of the Supreme Political Council, Sultan Al-Sami’i and Jaber Al-Wahbani, reviewed the Cabinet’s decision regarding the plan for Taiz International Airport, and the plan for its rehabilitation and operation.

The meeting, which included Deputy Prime Minister for National Vision Affairs Mahmoud Al-Junaid, Minister of Transport Abdul-Wahb Al-Durra, Governor of Taiz Salah Bajash, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation Dr. Muhammad Abdul Qadir, Undersecretary of the General Authority for Lands Ali Jassar, and Staff of the Fourth Military Region, Major General Hammoud Dahmash, approved the formation of a committee From all sides to implement the plan.

At the meeting, Al-Samei stressed that the importance of Taiz airport comes from the population density that it serves, which stopped because it was bombed by the aggression’s warplanes, which led to the destruction of the airport’s terminals and facilities and its out of service.

For his part, Al-Wahbani pointed out the need to address the problems facing Taiz Airport in light of urban expansion, pointing to the importance of rehabilitating the airport and preserving private rights.

In turn, Al-Junaid explained that Taiz Airport serves a number of densely populated governorates, and its rehabilitation is a priority.

And he indicated that the airport plan was studied and modified, and a decision was issued by the Prime Minister to serve the governorate and not harm citizens.

While the Minister of Transport stated that Taiz Airport is the first airport in the Republic and serves more than 10 million people in the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Lahj and Al-Dhalea, pointing to the interest of the Supreme Political Council and the government in the airport.

He explained that the plan of the Ministry and the Aviation Authority to rehabilitate Taiz Airport includes building terminals, necessary buildings, maintenance and restoration of the aviation field, indicating that the Council of Ministers approved the restart and rehabilitation of Taiz Airport as soon as possible, according to an ambitious plan for the next fifty years.

In turn, the governor of Taiz stressed the keenness of the local authority and its agencies in the governorate and the citizens to ensure the success of public projects that serve the governorate, including the rehabilitation of the airport and the protection of its lands.

He said, “It was agreed with the Land Authority to remove the plans and create an urban area, and the citizens will be fairly compensated.”

The meeting was attended by the planning directors of the Land Authority, Engineer Abdul Ghani Al-Ansi, and the documents, Ziad Abu Al-Rajal, the airports sector of the Aviation Authority, Amin Jamaan, and the office of the Land and Works Authority, Adel Mahyoub, and Engineer Faisal Shaalan.
