A meeting of the main committee for the land and campus of Sana’a International Airport

 

The Main Committee for the Lands and Campuses of Sana’a International Airport, in its fourth meeting, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs and Chairman of the Committee, Lieutenant General Jalal Al-Ruwaishan, discussed aspects related to the implementation of the directives of the President of the Supreme Political Council regarding preventing developments in the lands and campuses of airports.

 

The committee reviewed, in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Abdul Wahab Al-Durra, the Mayor of the Capital, Hammoud Abbad, the Deputy Minister of Justice, Dr. Ismail Al-Wazir, the Chairman of the General Authority for Lands, Dr. Hashem Al-Shami, and the Assistant Minister of Defense, Major General Ali Al-Kahlani, the proposals submitted by the Chairman of the Land Authority, including starting the works of fencing the sana’a airport campus and taking down and implementing plans On reality and to prevent any developments, as urgent steps to protect the territory and campus of the airport.

 

The meeting touched on the work plan of the main committee and the sub-committees during the coming period and the reports submitted by the sub-committee on what has been accomplished and the difficulties it faces, as well as the level of implementation of the outputs of the third meeting of the main committee and the extraordinary meeting with representatives of the relevant authorities charged with protecting the campus and lands of Sana’a Airport.

 

At the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs stressed the speedy implementation of the directives of the President of the Supreme Political Council, and the development of the necessary solutions and remedies for the existing problems.

He pointed out the importance of working in a team spirit for the relevant authorities with the Civil Aviation Authority and Meteorology and implementing practical steps in a way that contributes to preserving the territory of the Sana’a Airport campus and stopping any developments.

Lieutenant General Al-Ruwaishan pointed out that the developments in the airport campus and lands hinder the process of development and modernization of future expansion plans.

He directed the Civil Aviation Authority and the Land Authority to work on finding appropriate solutions in a way that contributes to speeding up the implementation process in the field to preserve the lands and campus of the airport, according to engineering studies.

For his part, the Minister of Transport indicated the importance of working according to the directives of the President of the Supreme Political Council, with the participation of all relevant authorities and sub-committees, stressing the importance of preserving the lands and campus of Sana’a Airport and preventing any developments or construction violations.

He pointed out the need to drop and implement engineering plans and develop appropriate solutions to protect the airport’s lands and campus to facilitate the process of expansion and development.

Minister Al-Durra confirmed that Sana’a Airport operates professionally in accordance with international requirements and standards, despite the systematic destruction it suffered by the aggression, with the aim of paralyzing air traffic there.

While the Mayor of the Capital confirmed the readiness of the local authority and the Works Office in the Municipality to carry out the incision and survey works for the street surrounding the airport campus wall, after taking down and applying the plans to reality.

The committee decided to hold an expanded meeting at the beginning of next week to discuss the decisions and practical steps that have been implemented by the concerned parties that have been agreed upon.

The meeting also reviewed reports from the head of the Sana’a Airport Fence Committee, the Land Authority and the Ministry of Works, on the plans of the Sana’a Airport campus and the nature of developments and high building violations.

The meeting was attended by the local Secretary-General of the Municipality of the Capital, Amin Jamaan, the Undersecretary of the Civil Aviation Authority, Raed Jabal, members of the administrative body of the Municipality, Hammoud Al-Naqeeb and Adel Al-Aqari, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, Khaled Bashmakh, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport for the Air Transport Sector, Abdullah Al-Ansi, the Director of Sana’a Airport, Khaled Al-Shayef, the Undersecretary of the Municipality of the Capital, Eng. Abdul Karim Al-Houthi, and the Director of Security. The secretariat, Major General Muammar Harash, and a number of stakeholders.
