A meeting was held in the port of Hodeida, which included leaders of the local authority, YRSPC and the WFP to discuss the humanitarian situation due to the lack of oil derivatives.

 

A meeting held at the Red Sea Ports Corporation – Hodeida Port, on Tuesday 23/2/2021 AD, chaired by Acting Governor Muhammad Ayyash Qahim, discussed the activities of the World Food Program and its role in providing humanitarian aid in the governorate.

The meeting was reviewed in the presence of the governor of the governorate / Abdul-Jabbar Ahmad Muhammad, and included the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain / Muhammad Abu Bakr bin Ishaq, and his deputy, Engineer / Yahya Abbas Sharaf al-Din, and the Director of the World Food Program in Yemen, Mr. / Laurenet Lubaida, the existing coordination mechanism between the relevant authorities to distribute aid Food for those targeted according to the work of the program as well as the humanitarian needs and the importance of expanding livelihood projects, difficulties and constraints.

The meeting touched on the humanitarian situation experienced by the Yemeni people due to the lack of oil derivatives and the maritime piracy practiced by the warships of the forces of the coalition of aggression in the regional waters and their detention of fuel ships despite the completion of all inspection procedures and the granting of the necessary permits from the United Nations and not entering any oil tanker since 320 days. Without legal justification.

At the meeting, Qahim and Agent Abdul Jabbar valued the efforts of the program and its cooperation with the local authority in providing food and called on the program to play an active role in order to pressure and release fuel ships, as they are linked to the lives of citizens, the process of transporting goods and food aid, and providing basic and necessary services to citizens.

They pointed out that life in Yemen has ceased in light of the aggression’s intransigence in launching ships of oil derivatives and using them as a means to bring the steadfast Yemeni people to their knees in the face of the aggression for more than six years.

They expressed their hope that the program would operate in the spirit of humanity without dictations from any party, and to release statements that clarify the difficult living conditions the Yemeni citizen faces due to the lack of oil derivatives.

While the head of the Red Sea Ports Corporation affirmed the close relationship between the program and the corporation, considering the port of Hodeidah is an important outlet for the delivery and transfer of humanitarian aid and relief materials of the program to the affected and displaced in various regions and governorates.

Captain / Ishaq indicated that the port sector is one of the sensitive sectors, and that the corporation launched a distress call yesterday, Monday, 22/2/2021 AD, for a distress call for the cessation of its port activity, with its near depletion of fuel stocks, confirming that the situation has reached a critical stage that cannot be delayed or awaited and warns of a humanitarian catastrophe meaning The word, which is what must be found quick solutions to this suffocating crisis that inflicted great damage is difficult to describe in all service sectors, and the citizen received the largest share of it.

He noted the need for the program to exercise its humanitarian role in pressuring the countries of the Aggression Coalition to release unjustly detained ships at sea and to explain to the world what the aggression countries are practicing in terms of injustice and prejudice against the Yemeni people and in a way that contributes to alleviating the effects of the humanitarian crisis left by the aggression and siege on Land, air and sea accesses.

For his part, the director general of the branch of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation in the governorate, Mr. Jaber Al-Razhi, affirmed that the people of Yemen are living in grievances and an exceptional humanitarian situation as a result of the detention of derivative ships and the siege practiced by the countries of aggression on airports and ports of Hodeidah, which requires all organizations to play an active role Towards the citizens.

Whereas, the Director of the World Food Program in Yemen indicated that the Food Program was keen to strengthen cooperation with the leadership of Al Hudaydah Governorate, the Foundation, and the Branch of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to serve common interests and address any difficulties.

He said, “We share with you the concern of the lack of oil derivatives and are monitoring the situation with great interest, especially with the Foundation launching the distress call, stressing that the program is making its utmost efforts to find appropriate solutions to this crisis.”

The meeting was attended by the director of the office of the chairman of the board of directors, Mr. Nabil Omar Al-Mazjaji, the branch of the Standards, Metrology and Quality Control Authority, Engineer / Ibrahim Al-Dawla, the Deputy Director General of the Branch of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Abdullah Al-Ahdal, the Director General of Engineering Projects at the Foundation, Eng. Sami Maqbouly, and the Director General of Affairs Technical Engineer / Ahmed Abdullah, Director General of Wharfs and Yards, Professor / Khaled Hamid, General Director of the Container Terminal, Captain / Muhammad Al-Sayyis, Director General of Legal Affairs, Professor / Mutahhar Al-Ammadi, Director of Security for Hodeidah Port, Colonel / Salman Al-Juma’i, Director of the World Food Program Office in Hodeidah, Professor / Abu Bakr Siddiq, and supply and catering for the program / Kazuo Yamazaki, Security and Safety / Bernard Njeida Mutaka.
