A ministerial meeting discusses the project to establish an oil port in Ras Issa

A ministerial meeting in Sana’a, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Dr. Hussein Makbouli, and in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for National Vision Affairs Mahmoud Al-Junaid, discussed the project to establish an oil port in Ras Issa, Hodeida Governorate.

In the meeting, which was attended by the Deputy Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Fahd Al-Ezzi, Minister of Transport Amer Al-Marani and Legal Affairs, Dr. Ismail Al-Mahaqri, the Executive Director of the Oil Company, Engineer Ammar Al-Adrai, and Head of the Roads Maintenance Fund, Eng. Nabil Al-Haifi, Dr. Maqboli stressed the importance of this strategic project, which comes in implementation of the directives of the President of the Supreme Political Council. And based on the decision of the Council of Ministers, which stipulated the formation of a higher governmental committee to prepare a detailed report on the project and to develop the necessary recommendations and proposals for the establishment of specialized economic ports.

He touched on the importance of establishing specialized ports, in particular the Ras Issa oil port, to achieve sufficiency in storing oil derivatives, indicating that the storage capacity of the new project amounts to four million tons of oil derivatives, which contributes to providing a strategic stockpile to cover the needs in various governorates.

The Minister of Legal Affairs pointed out the importance of establishing this vital port, and addressing any problems in the area in which the project will be implemented.

For his part, the Minister of Transport affirmed his readiness to provide all the necessary facilities to establish the project in the best interest of the country.

The meeting approved a number of implementation procedures and the tasks of the various stakeholders for the success of the project, urging the committee to submit the report to be presented to the President of the Supreme Political Council.
