A Russian company supplies the first cargo plane with green fuel

The Russian company “Gazprom Neft” has supplied the first private cargo plane with environmentally friendly SAF air fuel. And this was before a flight achieved by Ural Airlines from Amsterdam.

SAF is an atmospheric fuel that has a low “carbon footprint” (emissions of greenhouse gases into the Earth’s atmosphere), is produced on the basis of plant raw materials, and is also an environmentally friendly aviation fuel. And the use of SAF can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80%, compared to classic fuels.

The company said SAF’s share of the fuel mixture has exceeded 35%, reducing flight carbon dioxide emissions by a third.

The company’s press office explained that it is the Finnish company Neste that produces environmentally friendly air fuel for cargo plane flights.

It is reported that Ural Airlines achieved an eco-fuel flight from Amsterdam International Airport, and the cargo plane transported medical supplies and tests for COVID-19. According to Gazprom Neft, it is planned to continue the use of green fuel at the Special Air Service at European airports within the framework of the cooperation program with air carriers.

Gazprom Neft, together with Airbus, Aeroflot, Ural Airlines, S7, Volga-Dnepr and the Russian Civil Aviation Research Institute formed in 2021 the SAF Eurasian Alliance for the production and development of green fuels.
