Activation of Technical Emergency Plan at Sana’a International Airport

Yahya Al-Sayani, Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, confirmed the activation of the technical and operational emergency plan for Sana’a International Airport to ensure the continuity of civil and humanitarian flights, in accordance with the highest standards of international safety and air navigation.
During a meeting at Sana’a Airport attended by Khalil Jahaf, Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemen Airways, the Authority’s Assistant Undersecretaries for Aviation Safety, Dr. Abdul Hamid Abu Talib, and Yahya Al-Kahlani, Assistant Undersecretary for Airports, and Khaled Al-Shaif, Director General of Sana’a Airport, explained that the plan includes all technical and operational preparations to ensure the safety of civil aviation and the reception of Yemenia flights to and from Queen Alia Airport in Jordan, in addition to UN and humanitarian flights.
He emphasized that Sana’a International Airport serves two-thirds of the population of the Republic of Yemen and operates with high operational efficiency, in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), despite the challenges imposed.
The meeting was attended by the Director of Air Transport, Dr. Mazen Ghanem; Director of Air Navigation, Abdullah Al-Eryani; Director of Financial Affairs at the Authority, Hassan Al-Makhdi; and Assistant Director of Sana’a Airport, Brigadier General Jarallah Ahmed.
Following the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Transport, accompanied by the Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemenia Airlines, inspected the arrival, departure, and ceremonial halls, as well as the technical and operational services facilities at the airport.
Al-Sayani and Jahaf listened to an explanation from the airport director regarding the progress of work and the implementation of the emergency plan, which ensures the continued provision of navigation services in accordance with international requirements.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the emergency plan ensures the airport’s full technical and operational readiness, while adhering to all aviation safety standards. He noted that Sana’a Airport will remain a vital air gateway serving the Yemeni people, despite the existing circumstances and challenges.
