Aviation Authority Agent: Sana’a Civil Airport provides its services in accordance with international requirements

 

The deputy of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Raed Jabal, confirmed that Sanaa International Airport has been a civilian airport closed by the US-Saudi aggression coalition, since August 2016, to all civilian flights, except for the flights of the United Nations and its affiliated organizations.

In a statement), the deputy of the Civil Aviation Authority indicated that the airport currently receives international flights and humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen and provides its civil and air navigation services in accordance with international requirements and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

He said, “The United Nations and its employees are informed, through their movement back and forth, on a daily basis, on the mechanism of work at the airport in accordance with the required safety standards in light of the continuous aggression targeting the airport and its facilities.”

He pointed out that the closure of Sana’a International Airport by the aggression caused a humanitarian catastrophe, with the testimony of the United Nations and international organizations.

He added that “the continuation of the aggression in closing Sana’a International Airport is a war crime and a collective siege of the Yemeni people, which has major health, humanitarian and social consequences.”
