CAMA confirms its rejection of any infringement on the sovereignty of Socotra Airport and condemns attempts to hand it over to a foreign company

The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology in Sana’a confirmed its complete rejection of the attempt to hand over the management of Socotra International Airport to the so-called “Eastern Triangle Company” of the Emirates, considering this a blatant violation of national sovereignty and a squandering of the rights of Yemenis to manage their capabilities.
The Authority said in a statement – received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), “Based on Articles (32) and (34) of the Yemeni Civil Aviation Law, to prohibit any external interference in the management of Yemeni airports, we categorically reject these attempts.”
The statement considered this attempt a direct threat to national sovereignty, as the airport is currently managed by qualified Yemeni competencies that provide distinguished services that adhere to international standards to serve the entire Yemeni people.
The Authority called on the national and international conscience to confront the crime of violating Socotra International Airport, by granting the “Eastern Triangle” Company the authority to change the identity of the airport and empty it of its specialized Yemeni staff, under the pretext of an illegal permit.
It indicated that taking such steps, in “mysterious and suspicious” ways, reflects a state of dependence and subordination to external forces.
The statement stressed that the Authority will not hesitate to confront any attempt that affects the interests and sovereignty of the homeland, denouncing in the strongest terms the efforts aimed at marginalizing national cadres and replacing them with external parties.
The Authority reiterated its confirmation that the airport operates with high professionalism, far from political conflicts and narrow interests, warning of the serious consequences of such measures on Yemen and its sovereignty, announcing its full solidarity with the airport employees in their rejection of any external interference that affects the independence of their work.
She praised the national community positions that affirm the spirit of national belonging in Socotra and the rejection of such suspicious movements that affect the sovereignty and capabilities of the homeland.
