China sends a naval fleet on a mission to the Gulf of Aden
The 37th fleet of the Chinese Army Navy headed from the port of Sanya, in the southern province of Hainan, to the Gulf of Aden and waters off Somalia, on a mission to escort civilian ships.
And according to what was reported by the official Chinese website “Xinhua”, the fleet includes the guided missile destroyer “Changsha”, the missile frigate “Yulin” and the supply ship “Honghua”.
He also noted that on board the warships there are 700 officers and soldiers, including dozens of Special Operations Forces.
This is the first time that the destroyer “Changsha” has joined an escort mission.
The Chinese army navy began its first escort mission in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off Somalia in December 2008.
