Conclusion of an introductory workshop on the maritime safety approach and the safety management system at Hodeida Port

 

An introductory workshop on the maritime safety approach and the safety management system concluded  in Al Hodeida Port.

The workshop, organized by the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, with the participation of the Institute of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, over a period of six days, aimed at providing workers in the relevant departments of the corporation with safety skills and behaviors to actively contribute to meeting safety requirements at work sites, in accordance with the international requirements issued by the International Maritime Organization ( IMO ), and requirements. Local issued by the Ministry of Transport.

The participants also learned about the safety system ( SMS ) and the factors causing accidents, hazards, errors and weaknesses that may occur in the workplace, whether at the level of procedures and systems, or at the level of human behavior and human factors, or at the level of equipment, equipment and infrastructure.

 

The workshop included many training and application programs for occupational safety in the workplace.

At the conclusion, in the presence of the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport for the Air Transport Sector, Abdullah Al-Suwaidi, and the Dean of the Institute of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Dr. Naji Al-Sahmi, speeches were made indicating the objectives of the workshop and the hoped-for role in upgrading the level of capabilities and dealing with occupational hazards.

While the participants appreciated the efforts of the leadership of the Ministry and the Foundation in implementing such targeted training programs, despite the current conditions that the country is going through as a result of aggression, siege and escalation.

The closing was attended by the Ministry’s Training Director, Mithaq Abdel Hamid, the Deputy Director of the Aviation Institute, Ayman Al-Assyri, the Director of Environmental Safety and Maritime Navigation in the Ministry, Arafat Al-Nisy, and the Director of Curriculum Development Department at the Aviation Institute, Walid Al-Maati
