Discussion of the single window project and mechanisms to raise the efficiency of managing the work of the port of Hodeidah

 

A meeting at the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, headed by Acting Chairman of the Supreme Economic Committee, Governor of the Central Bank Hashim Ismail Ali, discussed the mechanism for raising the efficiency of managing the work of the port of Hodeidah, and the work plan for the single window project.

 

In the meeting, which included Ministers of Transport Abdul Wahab al-Durra, Industry Minister Mohammed al-Mutahar, Agriculture Minister Abdul Malik al-Thawr, and Governor of Hodeidah Mohammed Qahim, the Chairman of the Economic Committee reviewed the executive mechanism to activate the management of ports in conjunction with the movement of entry of ships and the restoration of navigational activity.

 

In the meeting, which included the heads of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Mohammed Ishaq, the Customs Authority, Adel Margham, the Supreme Authority for Medicines, Dr. Ali Abbas, the Investment Authority, Yasser Al-Mansour, and the specifications, Ibrahim Al-Moayyed, Ismail touched on the responsibilities of these authorities within the framework of the single window project to overcome the procedures for receiving ships and unloading goods.

 

He stressed everyone’s commitment and interaction in carrying out the tasks entrusted to the success of the work of this project at all technical and administrative levels, the speedy completion of transactions and procedures, the movement of ships’ turnover, and the transfer and unloading of their cargo according to an effective work system in one place.

 

The Acting Chairman of the Supreme Economic Committee considered the trend towards establishing the one-stop-shop project, which will include the relevant authorities in one location, headed by the Red Sea Ports Corporation, as the main pillar for enhancing the services of clearing arriving goods and accelerating all related procedures, including their transfers to all governorates.

 

As the Minister of Transport clarified, this meeting comes within the framework of the efforts aimed at strengthening aspects of coordination between the concerned authorities in the single window project and discussing the work plan that ensures the smooth implementation of procedures and the acceleration of port work services and everything related to facilitating navigational and commercial activity transactions.

 

He urged serious and responsible work between the various facilities operating in the port of Hodeidah, and presenting a positive image in improving the services of receiving ships and transporting their cargo, stressing that the ministry is keen to activate the management of port work and the participating parties as one team to shorten time and effort and facilitate the treatment of importers and the commercial sector and address any difficulties.

 

While the Governor of Hodeidah, Qahim, and the First Undersecretary of the Governorate, Ahmed Al-Bishri, affirmed their readiness to make more efforts that would support the plans and programs of the Economic Committee, the Ministry of Transport, and the Red Sea Ports and Corporation, in a way that serves the restoration of the port’s activity and the best fulfillment of its role.

 

For his part, the head of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Mohammed Ishaq, reviewed the strategic objectives of the one-stop-shop project, tasks and specializations, and the proposed work plan for the system of work procedures that help regulate the performance of the functions of Hodeidah port services.

 

The meeting was attended by directors of Red Sea ports, authorities and institutions concerned with navigational activity, and the port community of Hodeidah.
