Minister of Transport calls on UN to pressure the other party to open the main ports and roads

e Minister of Transport, Abdel Wahab Al-Durra, called on the United Nations to pressure the other party to abide by the truce by opening ports, crossings and main roads for citizens and travelers and transporting goods in the various governorates of the Republic.

During his meeting today with the leadership of the General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs, the Minister of Transport stressed the need to implement what was included in the truce, including running flights from Sanaa Airport to Cairo and intensifying commercial flights with no less than two flights per day to complete the flights approved by the humanitarian truce and allowing the entry of oil derivatives ships Detained to the port of Hodeidah

Al-Durra pointed out that the National Salvation Government was committed to opening the land crossings in accordance with the terms of the armistice, and the other party should do so.

He pointed out that land transport plays a pivotal role in moving the wheel of the national economy, which makes the organization of this sector and the use of main roads for transportation between governorates a necessity.. He stressed the importance of developing transport projects and benefiting from technology in order to achieve security and safety for citizens and travelers in all governorates.

Minister Al-Durra called on the private sector to invest in the land transport sector, as it is one of the promising sectors.

He praised the efforts of the leadership of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority and what it has accomplished during the past period in the areas of land transport… urging everyone to redouble efforts, work in a team spirit, and benefit from the experiences of countries in the fields of land transport.

The Minister of Transport heard from the head of the authority, Walid Al-Wadai, an explanation of the work progress of the authority and its branches, the development plans and programs it implements and the difficulties it faces.

Al-Wadai pointed out that the authority has strategic projects, some of which have been implemented and others are under implementation, such as the heavy cargo tanker parking project in Al-Hodeidah and future projects for the dry ports of Amanat Al-Asimah and Sana’a governorate.

The meeting discussed the development plans, programs and projects included in the national vision in the areas of land transport.
