Statement of the Ministry of Transport on National Resilience Day, eighth year 2023 AD

The memory of the National Resilience Day comes upon us, and the Yemeni people of all sects and segments continue their legendary national steadfastness in the face of the countries of the coalition of aggression and the forces of oppression and occupation for the eighth year in a row.

Among this legendary steadfastness is the steadfastness of the Ministry of Transport and its affiliated bodies and institutions, which are considered the main component of the state’s infrastructure due to its importance and a major role in the development of the national economy.

Transport in its various land, sea and air sectors is the lifeline of the Yemeni citizen and the backbone of development because of its direct connection to providing his basic needs, most notably food and medicine, in addition to what he needs of oil derivatives to facilitate his movement.

The countries of the brutal aggression coalition, led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, are well aware of the importance and role of the Ministry of Transport and its affiliates in the life of the Yemeni people, so they directed their first aggressive raids, on the night of March 26, 2015 AD, on airports, seaports, and land ports, foremost among them being Sana’a International Airport, which serves two-thirds of the population of the Republic. Yemeni.

These barbaric and systematic raids resulted in direct and indirect damages and losses incurred by the Ministry of Transport and its agencies and institutions from 2015 AD to the present day, with the total damages and losses amounting to 13 billion, 442 million, 851 thousand and 855 dollars.
The losses of the aviation sector were estimated at $6,870,027,776, or 51% of the total damages and losses of the transport sector. The losses of the maritime sector amounted to $5,682,548,020, or 42% of the total damages and losses of the transport sector. Land transport and its facilities amounted to (890,276,059) dollars, or (7%) of the total damages and losses of the transport sector.

The Ministry of Transport and its affiliated bodies and institutions, despite the continuous and systematic aggression and targeting that they were subjected to, did not and will not stand idly by on what befell them. The aggression destroyed it to provide its air, sea and land services ably with professional national cadres for the advancement of the various transport sectors and with high technical operational readiness in accordance with international specifications, standards and standards.

The Ministry of Transport condemns once again the continued restriction of flights at Sana’a Airport and limiting flights to only three flights, as well as not allowing international airlines to carry out their flights to and from Sana’a International Airport.
The Ministry of Transport also condemns the decision of the Yemeni Airways leadership in Aden to stop sales of travel tickets for the (Sana’a-Amman) line.

Through its offices and travel agents in Sana’a, the ministry affirms that such an irresponsible decision exacerbates the suffering of the Yemeni citizen and impedes his travel abroad. The ministry holds the Yemeni leadership in Aden for all the consequences of this arbitrary decision.

The Ministry again calls on the United Nations and the international community to put pressure on the countries of the Saudi-Emirati aggression coalition to fully and quickly open Sana’a International Airport to all civil flights and to multiple destinations to provide humanitarian services to the Yemeni people, especially to countries where patients, students and expatriates go.

The Ministry of Transport bears all the repercussions and exacerbation of the suffering of the Yemeni people in general, and the patients, especially those suffering from chronic diseases, who are waiting for an unknown fate for not lifting the blockade.
The aggression coalition warns against ignoring and manipulating the humanitarian file, and they must lift the siege unless the options are open, patience will run out, and the response will be quick, so they must respond and take advantage of the opportunity before it is too late.
