Transport Minister meets ICRC official

Minister of Transport Zakaria Al-Shami met here on Sunday with the deputy head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation (ICRC) delegation in Yemen Alexander Ekoy.

At the meeting, the officials discussed a mechanism of cooperation and coordination for the committee’s flights to Sana’a International Airport.

Al-Shami emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the ministry and the ICRC committee in the field of air navigation and domestic and international civil aviation.

The minister praised the role played by the ICRC in implementing the prisoner exchange agreement that took place recently through Sana’a Airport, which proved to the world its technical readiness to receive all civil, commercial and humanitarian flights.

Meanwhile, Ekoy affirmed that the ICRC’s delegation would continue to provide support for Yemen to alleviate the humanitarian suffering experienced by the Yemeni people.
