Al-Masirah Youth Team Wins the Captain Abdullah Shara and Port Martyrs Tournament in Hodeidah

 

Under the auspices of the leadership of the Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, represented by Chairman of the Board, Engineer Zaid Ahmed Taha Al-Washli, his deputy, Mr. Nasr Abdullah Al-Nusairi, and the Youth and Sports Office in Hodeidah Governorate, the second edition of the Captain Abdullah Shara and Port Martyrs Tournament for the year 1447 AH/2026 AD concluded today, Tuesday, the 28th of Ramadan 1447 AH, corresponding to March 17, 2026 AD, with the Al-Masirah Youth Team winning the championship cup after their victory in the final match held at Al-Qalaa Stadium in Hodeidah.

Al-Masirah Youth Team was crowned champion after defeating Al-Majd Team, who finished as runners-up, in a penalty shootout. The match ended in a goalless draw after regulation time. The tournament was organized by the Red Sea Ports Corporation of Yemen, under the supervision of the Youth and Sports Office of the governorate, and featured 48 sports teams competing throughout the month of Ramadan.

At the conclusion of the match, Mr. Nasr Al-Nusairi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Mr. Imad Al-Barai, Director of the Youth and Sports Office of the governorate, and Mr. Ali Al-Ansi, Director of the Chairman’s Office at the Corporation, presented Al-Masirah Youth Team with the first-place trophy and gold medals, and Al-Majd Team with the second-place trophy and silver medals.
Individual awards were also presented to outstanding players. Marwan Al-Ramadi received the top scorer award, Essam Mohammed received the best player award, and goalkeeper Wael Gharsan received the best goalkeeper award.

The ceremony also included honoring the leadership of the Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation with a certificate of appreciation from Al-Majd Al-Sahili Club, in recognition of their tangible role and generous support for sports and youth activities in the governorate.

During the ceremony, Al-Nusairi and Al-Barai praised the high level of organization, football performance, and sportsmanship displayed throughout the tournament among the 48 participating teams.

They explained that the tournament was held in tribute to the sacrifices of Captain Abdullah Shara and all the port martyrs who gave their lives for the nation.

The closing ceremony and awards presentation were attended by prominent social figures, dignitaries, and a large gathering of citizens and sports enthusiasts from the governorate.
