Completion of the First Phase of the Flood Damage Repair Project in Hodeidah City

The Executive Unit for Projects and Maintenance in Hodeidah Governorate has completed the first phase of the project to repair and restore flood-damaged streets in Hodeidah City, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund.
The first phase of the project, which cost 250 million riyals, targeted the maintenance of main and secondary streets in the districts of Al-Mina, Al-Hawak, and Al-Hali, to enhance the efficiency of the road network, facilitate traffic flow, and preserve the city’s aesthetic appeal.
Zaid Al-Murtada, Director of the Executive Unit in the governorate, explained that the technical teams completed all the work planned for the first phase according to the approved standards and specifications.
He noted that the project is part of the governorate’s plan to rehabilitate infrastructure damaged by torrential rains. For his part, the unit’s projects manager, Basem Qahtan, stated that the work included laying asphalt layers and repairing potholes and cracks in vital streets, including Jizan, Al-Mina, Palestine, July 7th, and Musa streets. He explained that the leveling and repair of large and small asphalt sections had been completed on a number of strategic routes.
In turn, the head of the restoration project, Engineer Shawqi Al-Salawi, confirmed the completion of maintenance and filling of approximately 1,800 potholes in various targeted streets, in addition to addressing drainage issues in the excavation areas of Al-Mina Street and repairing cracks on Al-Kurnish, Al-Kutayb, Al-Khamsin, and Al-Arba’een streets.
He pointed out that the project also included carrying out deep repairs on July 7th Street, which extends to Sana’a Street, and completing the asphalt paving on Al-Kurnish, Al-Tahrir, and Shamsan streets, thus ensuring the roads’ longevity and the safety of their users.
